In the presence of Georgia Volunteer Organisations Active in Disaster (VOAD), government officials, and leaders from multiple faith-based organizations, the Governor officially declared September as the National Preparedness Month in the State of Georgia. September was dedicated to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, houses of worship, and communities and to educate the public on how to prepare for natural and manmade disasters.
